S-60 The Spirit of Babylon

The spirit of Babylon is a spirit that opposes that spirit of Christ in you. This spirit will demolish the erection of the tabernacle of God not only within you but also within a Household of Faith and the CorporateTemple.

Today I want to use the picture that we see in the book of Daniel to present to you the characteristics of this spirit in the church today and also how it presents itself in your walk with God.

Dan 1:1-8 NKJV

(1) In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babyloncame to Jerusalem and besieged it.

(2) And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the articles of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god.

(3) Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king's descendants and some of the nobles,

(4) young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans.

(5) And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king's delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king.

(6) Now from among those of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

(7) To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: he gave Daniel the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego.

(8) But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

The church of God is presented in the Word as Zion. Wherever we read about the Zion position there is a clear reflection from the context that the Holy Spirit is present and very alive within ZION

THE TRUECHURCH – ZION – HAS THE HOLY SPIRIT

Wherever we read of Babylon it presents the world order, the antichrist and the false church. It is constantly portrayed as a position where there is confusion, the true church being persecuted and even sometimes presented as the harlot church.

1. BESIEGES JERUSALEM

This is a symbol of captivity. Babylon is antagonistic to Jerusalem.

Dan 1:1 NKJV

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.

Nebuchadnezzar surrounded and captured the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the picture of the church (Study and meditate on Rev. 21)

Psa 137:4 NKJV

(4) How shall we sing the LORD's song In a foreign land?

You cannot sing the songs of Zion from the position of Babylon. It is where you find yourself knowing that you are not in the place where you are supposed to be. This can be both in the physical and in the spiritual.

Some of the impact in your life will be that you will not receive adequate spiritual nourishment. The Word being taught will not sustain you.

A - ABSENCE OF JOY

Psa 137:1 NKJV

(1) By the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down, yea, we wept When we remembered Zion.

This is a place where you experience no joy in your walk with God. There is a constant weeping in you for you have no joy or praise that is resident in you.

Psa 137:2 NKJV

(2) We hung our harps Upon the willows in the midst of it.

You have given up on praise and worship unto the Lord. You find yourself in the position where you no longer have the unction or the desire for joy. You are in a position of depression and apathy.

You no longer experience joy in serving the Lord. You have been robbed from the joy of the Lord.

P - POVERTY

Dan 2:38 NKJV

and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all—you are this head of gold.

The gold is in the head. This is a system in which only those in leadership enjoy material prosperity.

In a practical sense you can say that it is only the leadership that experiences material prosperity. That prosperity is not distributed but kept and applied for the benefit of the leader.

T - TYRANNICAL LEADERSHIP

Nebuchadnezzar is a dictator not a father. This could be the treatment that you receive from the pastor or to a certain extent even from your own mind.

From your own mind:

You are constantly putting yourself down. You confess to be submitted to Christ but follow your own base mind and thought patterns. You are living a lifestyle of constant perfectionism in things that has no eternal value. You are continuously telling yourself what a loser and failure you are not only to God but also to those around you in the Household of Faith.

You life a life of being driven. You are driven by work, by false responsibilities, family responsibilities and feelings of guilt and failure.

You do not know rest of peace. You are not even at peace with yourself.

From your pastor / Leader:

If we look at this man his/her rulership over you is with an iron rod. There will be control and intimidation. Spiritual abuse is the order of the day. You confess to love him/her but you tremble in fear of this man/woman. You are not allowed to exercise free will. His way is the only way.

I - IDOLATRY

You have to follow the instructions of the prison authorities. THIS IS THE CULTURE OF AN INMATE.

The spirit of Babylon will pressure you into conformity. The captivity is maintained with threats. This system will threaten you with the fire and the lions to incorporate you into its culture of idolatry.

You are forced to conform to the expectation of him that Lords over you. In a practical sense you will see this manifested where you are forced to adapt the behaviour and mannerisms, conduct and behaviour of the set man. There is no voluntary following in the dust of the Rabbi but manipulation, control and domination to conform to the expectations of the setman and ruler of the House. Non compliance results in verbal abuse and even ex communication. Death and destruction prophecies and declarations in released over you.

THE THREAT OF FIRE.

Dan 3:1-3 NKJV

(1) Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its width six cubits. He set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

(2) And King Nebuchadnezzar sent word to gather together the satraps, the administrators, the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

(3) So the satraps, the administrators, the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces gathered together for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

Dan 3:4-6 NKJV

(4) Then a herald cried aloud: "To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages,

(5) that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up;

(6) and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace."

THE THREAT OF LIONS

Dan 6:7 NKJV

All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.

THE PRESSURE OF ELITE WORSHIPPERS.

The satraps (Persian Governors) and those in leadership were bowing down – captives were disempowered – they were pressured into worship.

The governing leaders may change but the captivity spreads transgenerationally from Babylon to Medo Persia to Greece to Roman – it is nevertheless the same spirit of captivity. The new culture that emerges is that of idolatry.

• WORSHIP THE IMAGE THAT IS 60 CUBITS – SYMBOL OF HUMANISM AND CARNALITY.

You:

Your life is all about you and what you desire. You live from your soul dimension. You are only focused on the here and now. You have no true and accurate spirit life that is being manifested in and through your life.

You will not give up your comfort zones for demands that are placed upon your for serving the King of Kings. i.e. Your TV Soapies and the feelings and emotions of yourself and those around you dictate your life.

You are constantly responding to all that carnal in you and in those around you…. Slandering anger etc.

Setman:

Constant demand is placed to meet the needs of the set man, resulting in forced labor and a taking care of all his wishes and desires and if you don’t, severe consequences and verbal abuse follows.

There is a constant demand placed that you need to honor the set man. You have to present him with recognition of how great he is, you have to give recognition to him about how important he is in your life. You must constantly flatter and give reverence and show your appreciation. Failure to do so again results in verbal abuse.

• WORSHIP THE GOLD – MONEY MADNESS.

You:

Your job or your business is your constant focus. You are constantly focused on the next business that needs to come in. You will rather work to get money than to give up that income or let the job take second place than to place the Kingdom of God first. Your priority is first work then the rest.

Set Man

A constant demand for more money and offerings are being made. Wishes of what is desired and what he needs personally is constantly communicated to the sons. Constant demands are placed for more money.

Take note that this is for the man and has nothing to do with building the Kingdom. It can be presented in such a way as to be towards this or that work of God but closer inspection will reveal that money are spent on luxaries for the set man. Only 5 star hotels, only the best and most expensive is good enough.

• MUSIC MADNESS

YOU:

This is the goosebumps of so called worship. You can not live without your Hillsong or Gaiter CD’s or DVD’s. Music dictates your moods. You are not able to worship in spirit and in truth without your music. You must listen to music all the time.

Church:

Focus is on the worship and on the worship team. If you take away the band and worship team there is no worship.

Dan 6:13 NKJV

(13) So they answered and said before the king, "That Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day."

Although you excel, you are still a captive. You see, you can step into this season “Judah” being apostolic and still be under the control of this spirit of captivity / Babylon.

YOU ARE A CAPTIVE OF BABYLON

STUDY THE BOOK OF NAHUM

The moral theme is: the holiness of Jehovah which must deal with sin in judgment. God’s judgment is upon the Spirit of Babylon as it keeps you in captivity.

The institutional church is built with captives. It maintains its strength through the threat of fire – hell and demons (lions). It’s strength is not built on love. An institution cannot love you. A Set man who operates in this spirit can not love you as he only loves himself and his own needs although it will be presented to you in a message that it about the Kingdom of God.

V - VULNERABILITY

All the power is in the head. The image of Nebuchadnezzar reflects that all the value is in the head and progressively devalues. This is hierarchical leadership. You are vulnerable to abuse and dictatorship. You are not recognised and appreciated. Your gifting and anointing is not recognised. There is no room for your grace as the only grace is that of the set man.

E - ECCLESIASTICAL BONDAGE

Psa 137:1-4 NKJV

(1) By the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down, yea, we wept When we remembered Zion.

(2) We hung our harps Upon the willows in the midst of it.

(3) For there those who carried us away captive asked of us a song, And those who plundered us requested mirth, Saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!"

(4) How shall we sing the LORD's song In a foreign land?

The sitting position is symbolic of a position of religious bondage. Place of no growth and development. There is no movement as you stay in the same place all the time. Look at the picture of someone sitting in a chair. You area of influence is only as far as you can reach. If you get up and walk there is vision and distance.

Religious bondage will leave you in this position where there is no growth and development. You have no vision and even if you have you find yourself unable to step into it as you are seated and can not walk.

S - STAGNATION

This spirit wishes to cut off the influence of the true church. It surrounds the church allowing no one to come into the house and no one is sent out. It strangles the resources of the church holding the believers captive. IT STAGNATES ALL MINISTRY within that church. It is all about us and our little house and group.

2. ABOLISHES APOSTOLIC CULTURE

Dan 1:2 NKJV

And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the articles of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god.

The articles refer to the Candlestick, Table of Shewbread and Golden Altar of incense.

You will recall in my teaching on the Four Pillars of the apostolic that these articles are symbols of the four pillars of an apostolic culture as outlined in Acts 2:42.

The articles were brought into the treasure house of Babylon. The spirit of Babylon recognizes the treasures of Acts 2:42 – she wants these hidden fromthe church. She dismantles the order of these treasures but uses them for her pleasure. So in Babylon you may see the elements of Acts 2:42 and be deceived into thinking that the elements are still operational according to the design of God. But you need to understand that Babylon’s prayer meetings are for her own advantage. Babylon only seeks to serve herself.

Dan 5:1-4 NKJV

(1) Belshazzar the king made a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and drank wine in the presence of the thousand.

(2) While he tasted the wine, Belshazzar gave the command to bring the gold and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple which had been in Jerusalem, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them.

(3) Then they brought the gold vessels that had been taken from the temple of the house of God which had been in Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them.

(4) They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone.

We see here that Babylon feasts with the Lord’s vessels but it is not the Lord’s Table.

BABYLON HAS COUNTERFEITS of these FOUR PILLARS:

2.1 INSTEAD OF APOSTLES DOCTRINE YOU HAVE THE LITERATURE OF THE CHALDEANS – A 3 YEAR COURSE.

2.2 INSTEAD OF FELLOWSHIP YOU HAVE CAPTIVITY – YOUR FELLOW INMATE – By the rivers of Babylon…

2.3 INSTEAD OF BREAKING OF BREAD YOU HAVE FOOD OFFERED TO IDOLS.

Dan 1:5 NKJV

And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king's delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king.

2.4 INSTEAD OF PRAYER YOU HAVE TO BOW TO AN IDOL. The prayers are idolatrous.

3. BANISHMENT FROM ACCURATE LOCATIONS.

Israel suffered a change of location for seventy years – from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Je ru’sa lem - Dual peace shall be taught: lay (set) ye double peace

Jerusalem, vision of peace (Hitchcock)

Babylon means confusion. = Thus we see a shift from peace to confusion.

This is symbolic of a shift to confusion. Confusion means disorientation for time, place and person.

Israel could not celebrate the feasts of Israel in Babylon. They could not celebrate the times of God in Babylon – this is equal to missing the visitations of God in His “Kairoses”.

Those under this spirit have no understanding of the current moves of God in the earth. They live in the past and have no concept of the proceeding word of God. They continue to camp out at the river of Babylon.

4. YOKE OF ASHPENAZ

Dan 1:3-4 NKJV

(3) Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king's descendants and some of the nobles,

(4) young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans.

H828 – ashpenaz - BDB Definition:

Ashpenaz = “I will make prominent the sprinkled”

1) chief eunuch of Nebuchadnezzar

Ash’pe naz - I will make prominent the sprinkled

Babylon will bring you under the influence of the master of eunuchs. Babylon wants to make you a eunuch – symbol of a weak man, a person that has lost dominion. Jezebel was surrounded by eunuchs. Ashpenaz makes you Jezebel’s slave. Ashpenaz promotes the sprinkled, not the immersed. Ashpenaz promotes those who have been touched by God, not those who are immersed in God. The spirit of Babylon will emasculate you – the end result is infertility (UNPRODUCTIVITY). The best of the church – the very elect – become eunuchs as they submit to the spirit of Babylon.

What is Klinefelters syndrome ?

Klinefelters syndrome is one cause of male hypogonadism, which results in the testes not working correctly and not producing testosterone hormone. It is a condition you are born with but it usually presents at puberty or if mild it may be many years before the problem is identified.

Chromosomes contain all the genes in each cell of the body. Healthy people have 46 chromosomes. Two of these are called the sex chromosomes, in women these are similar and called XX, whilst in men they are different and called XY. Men with Klinefelters syndrome have an extra chromosomes, normally just one extra X chromosome (i.e. 47 in all), although occasionally there can be more than one extra chromosome.

What symptoms may I have of hypogonadism due to Klinefelters Syndrome ?

• Delayed puberty – You remain a child – can not become fruitfull to reproduce
• Loss of libido - reduced interest in sexual activity – There is no desire for procreation because I live only for myself.
• Impotence – Can not produce seed – No proceeding WORD
• Reduced facial hair - reduction in need to shave
• Tiredness
• Reduced muscle power and stamina – No endurance in your walk with God
• Change in body shape - increased fat and breast development – Grow fat in the knowledge
• Infertlity – Seed has no life
• Osteoporosis - brittle bones resulting in fractures – Lack of Strength in structure – breaks when pressure is applied
• Depression and sometimes dyssocial behaviour – Disconnection from the body
• Early heart disease – Sick heart – Your heart is after yourself and what you desire and not after God.

What other features are there in patients with Klinefelters syndrome ?

Often associated with excess length of legs but normal arm length – Run from Fellowship but would appear to embrace people on the surface.

Minor bony abnormalities eg in hands and elbows – inability to serve accurately in the body. Either do not serve with a servant heart or do not serve at all

Intellectual difficulties. – Struggle to receive revelation and find it hard to really receive from Grace in your life.

What can be done for patient with Klinefelters syndrome ?

• Testosterone replacement - to reduce the risks of most of the long-term complications associated with Klinefelters, enabling normal life expectancy (see hypogonadism) – This is done through the WORD. New SEED is planted in you.
• Surgery - for cosmetic problems – Circumcision by the FATHER is needed where character alignment needs to take place
• Specialist follow-up: to monitor for long-term problems. – Engage Apostolic Grace in the Father

THE GENETICS ARE THE WORD OF GOD. ALTERATION OF THE GENETICS PRODUCES EUNUCHS – Jehovah Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, and Unitarianism (Its membership includes individuals who identify themselves as Agnostics, Atheists, Buddhists, Christians, Humanists, Wiccans, or other religious tradition. Many inter-faith couples find it to be a comfortable religious home.)

5. LANGUAGE CHANGE

Babylon wants to change your language. THE WORD OF GOD DEPARTS FROM YOUR MOUTH. You become filled with the ideas and imaginations of the philosophy of this world.

6. OWNERSHIP OF YOUR DIET

Dan 1:5 NKJV

And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king's delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king.

Dan 1:8-16 NKJV

(8) But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

(9) Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs.

(10) And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, "I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking worse than the young men who are your age? Then you would endanger my head before the king."

(11) So Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,

(12) "Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.

(13) Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king's delicacies; and as you see fit, so deal with your servants."

(14) So he consented with them in this matter, and tested them ten days.

(15) And at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king's delicacies.

(16) Thus the steward took away their portion of delicacies and the wine that they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.

1Co 10:18-21 NKJV

(18) Observe Israel after the flesh: Are not those who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

(19) What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything?

(20) Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.

(21) You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons.

Babylon wants to control your diet. Babylon wants you to eat the food offered to idols. Diet determines your countenance (appearance, image).

Daniel understood this was tantamount to idolatry - oneness with demons.

The food of Babylon distorts your image. You can not reflect the image and likeness of Christ if you eat the food that is offered to demons and not the pure and unadulterated word of God. This food is filled with inaccuracies and fables.

This diet has altered the countenance of believers. They no longer represent Christ on the earth – they represent the confusion of Babylon.

All the Hebrew names were intrinsically related to the character of God. The change in name was intended to distort identity and image. If the food did not do it the name you hear – because faith comes by hearing – will distort you and your belief system about yourself.

The system of Babylon wants to make you after the image of demons. The new names given referred to the Babylonian gods.

THE SPIRIT OF BABYLON WANTS TO DISTORT YOUR IDENTITY. IT IS THE ENEMY OF EXACT REPRESENTATION.

This spirit want to break the image of Christ in you. It will keep you from stepping into accurate sonship. It will keep you from embracing the father of the Household. It will keep you in bondage of you past fears and failures. It will keep you in poverty so that you can not step into dominion.

Daniel had a choice. He could submit to the spirit of Babylon or he could choose to follow God.

Today you have the same choice. You can choose to remain in bondage of the spirit of Babylon or you could choose to face the Lions and the Fire and to step out into liberty and freedom, to step into dominion.

Daniel and his friends were cast into the fire furnace. They received a visitation from God. God brought them out of the furnace. God did not deliver Daniel either from the Lions or from the fire. He had to face the Lions Den. He had to endure the fire.

God delivered him from both.

Do not run from the Lions, do not run from the fire but step into it so that God can bring about your deliverance.

Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

Promotion followed after they faced the fire. God will not take you out of this world. He will give you dominion to rule and to reign.
